Steam System Optimisation
Engineering-led review and redesign of your steam infrastructure to reduce energy consumption, improve process consistency, and extend equipment service life.
Why System Optimisation Matters
Most industrial steam systems were designed years or decades ago, with process requirements, fuel costs, and environmental standards very different from today. Over time, process loads change, equipment is added piecemeal, and pressure levels are set conservatively — creating a system that works, but wastes significant energy doing so.
PureSys system optimisation goes beyond maintenance. We apply engineering analysis to understand how your steam network is performing as a whole, identify where the biggest gains lie, and define a phased improvement roadmap with quantified outcomes for each stage.
The result is a leaner, more responsive steam system — one that delivers the right pressure and quality of steam to each process, at minimum cost per unit of output.
Optimisation Outcomes
What We Optimise
Boiler House Efficiency
Combustion efficiency review, blowdown frequency optimisation, feedwater temperature improvement through deaerator performance, and flue gas heat recovery options.
Steam Distribution Pressure
Many plants run distribution pressure higher than necessary. Reducing pressure where permissible lowers flash loss, reduces trap sizing requirements, and cuts pipe thermal losses.
Steam Trap Management
Trap type, sizing, and installation configuration review across all drip points and process applications. Specification of correct trap type for each duty for optimal performance.
Condensate Recovery
End-to-end review of condensate pipework, pump capacity, flash vessel sizing, and receiver design to maximise the proportion of condensate returned to the boiler feedtank.
Control & Instrumentation
Review of PRV sizing and set points, control valve selection and authority, level and temperature instrumentation, and integration with process automation requirements.
Insulation & Heat Losses
Thermal survey of pipework, vessels, and fittings. Calculate cost of uninsulated or damaged sections. Specify mineral wool or calcium silicate insulation with jacket specification.
Our Optimisation Process
Gather 12 months of fuel, water, and steam data. Establish current system performance baseline in kWh and ₹/tonne of steam.
On-site measurement of operating pressures, temperatures, flow rates, and trap conditions across the full steam circuit.
Model the system to identify where energy is being lost, where pressure can be reduced, and where equipment is misapplied or oversized.
Deliver a phased action plan with each improvement costed, savings quantified, and ranked by payback period.
Optional support through the implementation phase — product selection, installation oversight, and post-implementation verification measurement.
When to Commission Optimisation
System optimisation is appropriate when:
- 🔹 Energy costs are rising and steam consumption is high
- 🔹 Process quality has deteriorated without clear cause
- 🔹 A new production line is being added to existing infrastructure
- 🔹 Major maintenance or boiler replacement is being planned
- 🔹 ISO 50001 energy management certification is being pursued
- 🔹 Carbon reduction targets require operational emissions data
